In my newest body of work I am working to further separate myself from the subject matter and create abstractions from nature exemplifying beauty that otherwise goes overlooked. Beginning with the poke berry bush, which is a local weed in the south, I admired its lines, organic shapes, and incredibly vibrant and contrasting colors and chose to enhance those qualities. I choose to source inspiration from plants deemed invasive or a "nuisance" in common landscape, and focus on the beauty in its foundational form. These plants are also important as they often provide an important balance to the local pollinators and ecosystem.
